Egg Nog Recipe

Jessica Broberg

A favorite Christmas treat for our family is homemade Egg Nog. This year my 7-year old daughter Hannah helped me whip up  a batch for a Christmas party for our Kids’ Ministry Leaders. After sampling it for what she said was her first time ever she decided it was the most delicious thing she had ever tasted. We had to whip up another batch a few days later for our family to properly inhale, I mean enjoy. 🙂 It’s super easy & because it’s Christmas the calorie intake doesn’t count. Enjoy!

 1 dozen egg yolks (beaten)

1c. sugar

1 pt. 1/2 & 1/2

1 C. heavy whipping cream

1 qt. egg nog (any store bought brand)

1 gallon whole milk

vanilla to taste

rum flavoring to taste (I usually omit this as I don’t always have it on hand)

nutmeg to garnish

yield: ~1 1/2 gallons

Separate egg yolks. Beat the egg yolks & add sugar. Beat well. In another bowl whip the heavy whipping cream with some sugar (regular or powdered sugar, whatever you have on hand). Set aside. Mix all the cold ingredients & the egg & sugar combination in a large bowl. At the very end, fold in the heavy whipping cream. Add spices to taste.

I throw a nice heaping tablespoon of nutmeg across the top. Looks so pretty & gives it a great taste!
